God’s Not Dead 2 | Coming Soon!

God's Not Dead 2

It is official; God’s Not Dead 2 is in the works and on the way! Pure Flix will be producing this sequel and carrying forward the momentum of one of the biggest Christian movies ever released.

The Success

On March 21st, 2014, God’s Not Dead debuted in theaters and took the Christian film industry by storm.  This film came seemingly out of nowhere and on opening weekend it made over four times its budget in ticket sales.  Pure Flix entertainment released this instant hit and stumbled onto something that people really enjoyed. God’s Not Dead brought in about $62,000,000 in the theaters; compare that to its $2 million budget and it brought in over 3,100% of what it cost.

We watched this film cascade across the country as it continued to open in more theaters week, after week, after week, capping at 1,860 theaters nationwide. To top it off this high energy Christian movie was built upon a moving and inspirationally charged message that was both timely and impacting. We wrote a full review as well.

The Sequel

We have recently learned that the CEO of Pure Flix has confirmed that a sequel God’s Not Dead 2 is in the works and may be released toward the end of 2015!

The news is exciting because not only will we get more of God’s Not Dead, but I think they will have the budget, and the experience to produce an even better film. This was the second and most successful theater release for Pure Flix which has historically specialized in direct-to-DVD faith based and family films.

No specific details have been confirmed concerning the nature of the plot or the development of the characters, but just knowing it is in the works is exciting. This is a good thing for Pure Flix but it’s even better for the Christian film industry as a whole.

The Impact

I believe this venture has helped them to spread their wings and will enable them to raise the bar even higher for God’s Not Dead 2. So much was learned from God’s Not Dead both in terms of production and release, this experience may help launch Pure Flix and similar DVD centered film studios into successful and ongoing cinema achievements. However all of this pales in comparison to the real impact, which is taking the message further in order to see more lives changed.

Pure Flix is already working on another film titled Do You Believe that will debut in the spring of 2014 before God’s Not Dead 2.  This is a sign that the momentum is effecting things out beyond just one film and its sequel.  Learn more about additional films Pure Flix has released.

The Movie “GOD’S NOT DEAD” was past due, and I fully believe, based on a earlier conversation that Christians are literally walking away from churches because there are too many preachers and teachers in the church that are not Christians and never were. (Sower and the Seed-that parable was a major heads up among others) 10-15 Christians in a conversation with each other about having left the Churches because of too much satanic conduct. Maybe we need to get back to the basics and search out real true believer to have Bible study home church.

George, the success of the movie is immaterial to the lives saved. I wish you would include that in your “impact” description of the movie. For that is what is really important here.

    • Todd, right on. I just made an edit to make sure that point is clear and distinct. Thanks so much.

No, thank you George. I love this site. I know that the Bible is the one way to a persons faith, but faith inspired movies can also be powerful as long as they fall in line with how God wants us to lead our lives.

By the way I loved the first one. I must have seen it at least 5 times. I am going to see “A Matter of Faith” tomorrow. I live in Green Bay Wi. and found out that this is the only city in the state that will be playing it.

Saw the movie “A Matter of Faith”, it was every bit as good as “God’s Not Dead”. The personalities were different though. This one was more in a loving tone. A must see. I will certainly buy the dvd.

Saw the trailer for this movie and what perfect timing as our Government is trying to abolish Christianity. This looks like a very powerful movie that just might have some non believers thinking twice on what is going on in this world of ours. We know as it is written in scripture. I hope this movie indulges in scripture with what is written in the end of times.
